Night Recordings
Submitted by igetthegistofit
I recently downloaded an Android application that’s ostensibly a suped-up alarm clock; it’s main feature is you put it the phone in your bed with you, and it uses the accelerometer to track your movements in bed, so it tracks your sleep cycle, and then wakes you up when you’re in a light sleep cycle nearest the time you set the alarm. I’ve been using it for a while, and it’s worked: I wake up less groggy.
I discovered the “record snoring and sleep talking” feature after using the program for awhile. It does not specify what their method is, but I assumed then, and still assume, that it turns on when it picks up a noise, and records until the noise stops. I’ve been told before that I say funny things sleep talking, so I set the record function out of curiosity.
I woke up to 3 recordings, and listened to them over coffee. The first one, 1:56am, was nothing… just static. The second one, 2:34, was just one loud snore, then twenty seconds of static. The third, 3:15am, is the one I’m concerned about. It starts off with about fifteen seconds of static, a creak, and then someone speaks. I say someone, because it’s a very feminine voice, and I’m a guy. It’s whispered, and a bit… giggled over, but I think I’ve been able to make it out as “It’s so much easier when they’re sleeping.”
I live alone. I checked all my windows and doors, and everything is locked. I do not remember if I closed my bedroom door before bed, but it was open in the morning. Should I be concerned, or is it possible the app picked up… I don’t know, a baby monitor or something?
